1. Getting started

How do I create an account?

Open Artemis and choose "Create one" on the sign-in screen. You can sign up with an email and password, or continue with Google or Sign in with Apple.

What permissions does Artemis need?

Location, to share your position with your circle and power Trip Mode. Notifications, to deliver wellness checks and alarms. Contacts and camera are optional, only used if you choose to add a profile photo. Artemis never accesses your location, contacts, or photos without your explicit action.

2. Circle & wellness checks

How do I add someone to my circle?

Go to the Circle tab and search for their exact Artemis username. They'll get an invite notification and must accept before you're connected — nobody is added without their consent.

What is a wellness check?

A quick "are you okay?" prompt you can send to anyone in your circle. They have 30 minutes to respond with "All good," "I need help," or a full alarm. You can also answer directly from the lock screen notification, without opening the app — press and hold the notification to reveal the response buttons.

Why can't I send another wellness check right away?

To prevent accidental spam, there's a short cooldown (about 10 minutes) between checks sent to the same person. The app will tell you exactly how long is left.

3. Location sharing & trips

Who can see my location?

Only circle members you've explicitly approved, and only while you have sharing turned on or a trip/alarm active. You can hide your location from specific people at any time in Location Sharing settings.

How does Trip Mode work?

Search for a destination, pick walking, biking, or driving, and start your trip. Your buddy sees your live position and route on a map in real time — even while your phone is locked. If you don't confirm you're safe by your ETA, your buddy is alerted automatically.

Does Trip Mode drain my battery?

It uses continuous GPS, so it uses more battery than normal — similar to any navigation app. We recommend keeping your phone charged during longer trips. Artemis will also warn your buddy automatically if your battery gets low.

4. Account & privacy

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile → Delete account. This permanently and immediately removes your profile, circle connections, messages, check-ins, and location history. This cannot be undone.

Is my data sold to anyone?

No. Never. See our Privacy Policy for the full details on what we collect and why.

How do I turn off notifications?

Go to Profile → Notifications to turn off specific categories (wellness checks, circle invites, trip updates, messages), or set quiet hours. Safety alarms can't be silenced, by design.

5. Troubleshooting

My circle member's location isn't updating.

Ask them to check that they have location permission set to "Always Allow" (not just "While Using") in their phone's Settings, and that sharing is turned on in Artemis.

I'm not receiving push notifications.

Check that notifications are allowed for Artemis in your phone's Settings, and that the relevant category is turned on in Profile → Notifications inside the app.

The app crashed or froze.

Please email us with your phone model and iOS/Android version — this helps us fix it fast.
