The short version: we collect only what's needed to run the app, we never sell your data, and you are always in control of what you share and with whom.
Artemis ("we", "us", "our") is a personal safety application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use the Artemis app or visit our website.

When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and a username. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
When you choose to enable location sharing, we collect your device's GPS coordinates. This is entirely opt-in — we do not collect your location when sharing is turned off.
We may collect information about how you use the app, such as features accessed and check-ins sent, to improve the Service. This data is anonymised where possible.
We collect basic technical information such as your device type, operating system version, and app version to help us diagnose issues and improve performance.
If you contact us by email, we keep a record of that correspondence to help resolve your query.

We do not use your data to serve advertisements, and we do not sell your data to third parties.
Location data is the most sensitive data we handle and we treat it accordingly.
We only collect your location when you have explicitly turned on location sharing in the app. When sharing is off, we do not collect, store, or transmit your location.
Your location is shared only with the circle members you have approved. No one else — including us — uses your real-time location for any other purpose.
Real-time location data is used to power live sharing and is not retained indefinitely. Historical location data, where stored, is kept only as long as necessary to support app features and is deleted when you delete your account or request removal.
You can turn location sharing on or off at any time from within the app. You can also revoke the app's location permissions from your device's system settings at any time.
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
Data you choose to share — such as your location or check-in status — is shared with the circle members you have approved.
We use third-party infrastructure to run the Service, including Supabase for database and authentication services. These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate data processing agreements and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
We use a third-party email service (Resend) to deliver transactional emails such as circle invites. These emails contain only the minimum information necessary to deliver the message.
We may disclose your data if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Artemis, our users, or the public.
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Specifically:
When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Artemis is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
We take the security of your data seriously. We use industry-standard measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication, and access controls to protect your information.
However, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that your data will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by a breach of our security measures. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@embelstudio.se.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you via the app or by email.
Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
