By downloading, installing, or using the Artemis application (the "App") or visiting our website (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Artemis ("we", "us", or "our"). Please read them carefully.
Artemis is a personal safety app that allows users to share their real-time location with trusted contacts ("circle members"), send check-ins, set trip timers, and use other safety-oriented features.
The Service is designed to help you stay connected with people you trust. It is a supplementary safety tool and is not a replacement for professional emergency services.
Artemis is not an emergency service. In the event of an emergency, always contact your local emergency services first (such as 112 in Europe or 911 in the US). Do not rely solely on Artemis in life-threatening situations.
Artemis does not monitor your safety in real time, does not dispatch emergency responders, and cannot guarantee that circle members will be available or able to help at any given moment. Features such as location sharing and check-in timers depend on your device having an active internet connection and location services enabled.
We strongly encourage you to save your local emergency number in your phone and to have a separate emergency plan in place.
To use Artemis you must:
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized use of your account.
You may not create an account on behalf of another person without their explicit consent.
Artemis collects your device's GPS location when you choose to enable location sharing. By enabling this feature, you consent to the collection, storage, and sharing of your location data with your designated circle members.
Location sharing is always voluntary. You can turn it on or off at any time from within the App. When location sharing is disabled, your location is not collected or transmitted.
Your location is only ever shared with circle members you have approved. We do not sell your location data to third parties or use it for advertising purposes.
Location history may be stored for a limited period to support the App's features. You can request deletion of your location data at any time by contacting us or by deleting your account.
You may invite other people to join your safety circle by entering their email address. By sending an invite, you confirm that:
Circle invites require the recipient to explicitly accept before any location data is shared. An accepted invite creates a mutual connection — both parties can see each other's shared information according to their individual settings.
Misuse of the circle or invite features — including inviting people without consent, or using the App to track someone without their knowledge — is a violation of these Terms and may result in immediate account termination.
You agree not to use the Service to:
We reserve the right to investigate and take appropriate action against anyone who violates these provisions, including suspending or terminating their account and reporting to law enforcement where appropriate.
Your privacy matters to us. Our use of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.
In summary: we collect only what is necessary to provide the Service, we do not sell your data, and we give you control over what you share and with whom.
The Artemis name, logo, app design, and all content published on the Service are the property of Artemis and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written permission.
By submitting any content through the Service (such as a username or profile name), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use that content in connection with operating the Service.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:
Location accuracy depends on your device's hardware, operating system, and network connectivity. We cannot guarantee perfect precision and you should not rely on the Service as your sole means of safety in any situation.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Artemis and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, including but not limited to:
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or €50, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties or liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.
You may delete your account and stop using the Service at any time. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms, if continued provision of the Service would expose us or others to legal risk, or for any other legitimate reason.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, liability limitations, and intellectual property provisions) will continue to apply.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you via the App or by email.
Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.
